These are perhaps the most complicated street lamps. They are designed to cover huge swatches of ground and reduce their impact on the surrounding area. A plaza with 15 lights in the middle is more restrictive to the eye and movement, while having only one pole allows the “overlooking” of the light pole.

Although along some paths (as in the bottom right) it was important for the designer to choose putting the lights low, he wanted the pedestrian to see his lights, and be aware of their presence, while the other examples were designed for lighting huge swatches with little hinderance of the pedestrian.
